On Day 1, WhisperKit Android attains best-in-class performance on mobile devices powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, such as the Samsung Galaxy, leveraging the NPU. We deploy to the GPU on other Android devices as we work toward broad and seamless NPU support.

Android has a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders which creates unique challenges (and opportunities). We are directly working with several stakeholders to bring the top performance, reliability and framework feature set required to productionize on-device inference for virtually all Android devices in 2025. Finally, the tech stack underneath WhisperKit Android is well-positioned to support Linux platforms for embedded IoT devices as part of a future milestone for the WhisperKit ecosystem.
